How to help: Individuals and Families
If you are interested in helping at our location, please contact us and fill in a volunteer application. We coordinate volunteers based on availability, capability and compatibility with our needs.
Here are some other ways to help:
Donate food items Urgently needed food: Canned fruit, canned tomatoes, canned beans, dried beans in a bag, tinned stew, canned meat and fish, canned vegetables, peanut butter, jam, instant coffee, tea, toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, toilet paper.
When making a donation to the Richmond Hill Community Food Bank, please ensure they are within the best before period or have not expired.
Financial donations are always helpful to purchase food items as needed. You can donate online through Canada Helps.
During food drives (Thanksgiving, Christmas and Spring) we need volunteers to sort the donations.
Consider donating your time through professional services. Your skills in marketing, legal, or financial areas could fit with our needs.
All volunteers must be 14 years of age or over. All applicants will need to fill out the volunteer application.
Children under the age of 14 can get involved with their parents! Community awareness is a global benefit and we encourage families to do intentional shopping and talk about your impact. Here are some suggested items to add to your grocery list for the food bank:
Peanut butter, jam, cereal, juice, canned stew, macaroni and cheese mixes, baking mixes, canned fruit & vegetables are all staple items we need. Diapers, baby food, and personal care items are also much appreciated.
Talk to your child about those that need help and perhaps think of a few questions that you can ask us about what we do, and why. Drop off your donations at our location, and we can answer any questions you might have about our organization.
